With e-ink and extensive capabilities: A new display that can also be used wirelessly relies on electronic ink and includes its own processing chip. WiFi is also supported, and creating custom interfaces is intended to be straightforward.

The reTerminal E1003 ePaper Display is a new display, though it is not primarily designed for use with a PC. Instead, it is intended for applications such as a picture frame or as a smart display, for example as an interface for a smart home system. The display itself measures 10.3 inches diagonally and has a resolution of 1,404 x 1,872 pixels. It supports 16 levels of grayscale but cannot display color content. In principle, the model can be used as a picture frame, as black-and-white artwork can also be effectively displayed.
It is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery. The specified battery life is up to 6 months on a single charge. In this respect, e-paper technology is particularly advantageous. The model can also serve as a control hub for a smart home system and supports touch input. This allows switching between displaying an artwork and showing an information screen, so users are not limited to a single use case.
The device is powered by an ESP32-S3 processor. With the standard firmware, it is already compatible with SenseCraft HMI, allowing such interfaces to be created easily via a web interface. Programming is also supported via the Arduino IDE and PlatformIO. It supports WiFi in the 2.4 GHz band as well as Bluetooth. Temperature and humidity can be recorded directly by the reTerminal E1003 ePaper Display using appropriate sensors. The display itself is priced at $160, with an additional $20 for the frame.
