INTRODUCTION From the AI recorder Flowtica Scribe, which raised $400,000 on Kickstarter last year, to the card-type e-ink Verso showcased at this year's IFA, Flowtica's product line is becoming clear — not just a single recording tool, but a wearable AI information terminal. Last year, it opened the door to voice-enabled office work with a handwriting-enabled AI recorder, and this year it directly integrates e-ink into a recording card, eliminating the final step of "pulling out your phone to see results" during meetings. Two products create a 1+1>2 effect. {AINGOODS 硬集谷} AINGREPORT
At IFA, Flowtica Verso features a compact card form factor, a 3.68-inch touch e-ink screen with 259 PPI resolution, and a total weight of only 98 grams, using an aluminum-magnesium alloy unibody. It supports MagSafe magnetic attachment, directly adhering to the back of your smartphone, or can be worn around the neck with a lanyard, placed on a desk, or attached to magnetic surfaces, adapting to various scenarios such as meetings, commutes, and business trips.
The core difference from most AI recording devices is that the information output terminal is directly incorporated into the device itself. Traditional AI recorders follow a path of "record → sync to phone app → transcribe and generate → open to view", always requiring a smartphone. In contrast, Verso closes the loop on the device: after a meeting, the AI-generated conversation summary, to-do list, and responsibility assignments are displayed directly on the e-ink screen, allowing you to grab the device and quickly scan for key information. The static e-ink consumes almost no power and lacks backlight, making it unobtrusive in quiet meeting rooms without disrupting the flow of the meeting.
The two physical buttons on the device specifically address pain points in the office environment. The FlowMark button allows you to press while hearing key decisions or conclusions during a meeting; the AI will automatically mark these sections as high-priority content when generating summaries, so you don’t have to interrupt to take notes or search for highlights later. The Ask AI button lets you hold it down to instantly voice a question, such as "What was the delivery date agreed upon with the client last time?" or "What tasks are pending from the meeting last week?", providing immediate, precise results that are far more efficient than manually scouring recordings or reading long transcripts.
The hardware specifications are also impressive. The audio system includes 4 MEMS microphones paired with 1 bone-conduction microphone, offering a pickup range of up to 5 meters and supporting the identification of up to 15 speaker voices, ensuring accurate separation of speech in multi-person meetings. It also features 64 GB of local storage, supporting up to 72 hours of continuous recording, balancing the need for privacy with long-duration recording capabilities. Additionally, it integrates NFC electronic business card functionality for easy contact sharing during business trips.
The device is priced at $299, with an early bird discount of 75%, bringing the cost to approximately $224. It is expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2026. A notable feature is the permanent recording indicator light, which cannot be turned off — likely to comply with overseas regulatory requirements.
Observations on the E-ink Market
The e-ink business has long surpassed the single-use e-book model of the Kindle era. While Kindle exited the Chinese market, many predicted the demise of the small-screen e-ink segment, yet magnetic attachable e-ink screens defied expectations, thriving by turning the back of cell phones into a battleground for various manufacturers.
Brands like Reasound, EEGO P4lite, MOLINK, and DUROBO have all entered the fray, focusing on magnetic attachments that use low-power e-ink for reading, reminders, and information display, effectively turning the phone's back into a secondary screen. The competition centers on thinness, battery life, and reading experience.
However, Flowtica has taken a completely different approach: while others use their screens for "content consumption" (reading books and articles), Flowtica uses its screen for "productivity output," serving specifically as the display for AI voice results — recording, transcribing, summarizing, and questioning all happen on this one screen, eliminating the need to jump back to the phone.
From the handwriting-enabled Scribe to the result-displaying Verso, Flowtica's strategy is clear: to create a lightweight, non-disruptive wearable AI tool for office scenarios by separating input (recording) and output (display) from the smartphone. As everyone vies for space on the back of the phone, the real competition isn't about screen thickness, but who can complete the specific scenario workflow most effectively, making the tool truly independent of the smartphone.
